Phil Skayman
Founder, Defender and Gaffer
Founder and Gaffer. Played over 550 games for the club in all formats. Loves a shit throw and a tackle. Big lump of a man. Easily distracted by alcohol and happy to hug.

I play for Hughsie FC to combine my love for football with making a genuine difference to people's lives. It is more than just a team, it is a community of people that come together to try do the best they can for others. Hughsie FC is more than a club, it is a family.
David Holmes
Defender
Having played Sunday league football with most of the other players and missing not (being able to be) doing this every week, the opportunity Hughsie FC provides is amazing, combine that with playing for Sads (and other charities whom our opposition support) and having the opportunity to help people by doing something I enjoy is amazing.
Oliver Hughes

I'm Oli, Adam Hughes' brother. My family and I love that everyone is still playing football, raising money and thinking of Adam. We're very proud, and a little emotional each time Hughsie FC play. I don't have the football skills Adam did, so I only like to play if it's not a close game.
Jamie Hallam
Defender
As one of the original Hughsie/Dunholme it was important for us to carry on the memory of Adam for us as a team , for Adam and his family. I am glad and proud that after 13 years we are still going and still representing Adam and the charity family and long may it continue.
Matt Hardwicke
Defender, Midfield
From my early playing days at Dunholme FC I knew what it meant to play in Adam’s memory. I loved every minute of that team and grew great friendships that I still have now and it was a pleasure to be asked to start playing for Hughsie FC in both over 35’s and 11 a side. Every time the shirt was worn back then or now as Hughsie FC, there is a purpose and it’s great to be able to be a very small part of it and support Phil, Jamie and others to achieve its key mission. Up the Hughsie!

Defender, Midfield, Forward
Raising money for SADS UK is such a worthy cause. This terrible condition unexpectedly takes the lives of many people each year so I feel privileged to be able to step onto a football pitch with my friends and create awareness around this, while also contributing financially

A great bunch of lads, a great cause, keeps me (occasionally) playing the sport I love

Found out about Hughsie through family and I’m so glad. Playing with the boys is fulfilling not only because of how good the lads are, but because of how good of a cause it is we are playing for too. Top lads, top team.

I've played with the original Hughsie lads for over 20 years now. AH was a great lad, player and captain. I love continuing to play for the team in his memory.
Adam Cropper
Goalkeeper
It's great to see the boys! Get together for a great cause and to remember Adam. Have a laugh win, lose or draw and stay in touch. #footballfamily

Goalkeeper, Defender
I've been around from the start of Hughsie FC, as a referee to begin with and occasional player. I played with a lot of the players at Dunholme FC and love representing the team when I'm available.

I initially started playing with Adam Hughes in our school team under 12's - in-fact, he kept me out of the team!
In future years, 2002/03 season I joined Wellingore AFC alongside the likes of Phil Skayman, and I somehow persuaded Adam, now at university in Sheffield, that it was a great idea to drive back to Lincoln each Sunday hungover to play football with us - he established himself in his legendary status as our team captain.
Following the boys onto Dunholme FC & later in honour of our dear friend (one of a kind) our founder Phil Skayman created Hughsie FC and has worked his socks off to keep the memory of Adam going and raising significant funds over the years for the SADs charity.
Seen some sights over the years with Adam and his crazy 'can do' attitude including his legendary bet on my brother's stag do to mix a pot of mustard in with his custard pudding at Gateshead dog track in 2007 was a prime example of the legend.
These days I am a bit part player, when not injured or too fat / unfit. But an OG (in more than one sense!)
Gone, but often remembered - AH x

A Wellingore player for 15 years and played alongside Adam Hughes for many a season. Still kicking people up in the air when the ref isn't looking. Never booked, but nobody knows why (??)
Andy Woodrow
Defender, Forward
Having played football in the same team with Adam Hughes was an absolute privilege. Sadly he was taken away too early but what better way to keep his memory alive than playing a game we love with friends, raising some money for charity and remembering the great person Adam was.
Mark Johnson
Defender, Midfield
Football has always been great for me and it is always good to give something back so they both tick many boxes.

After my first game for Hughsie FC I could see what a great bunch of lads were involved and wanted to be involved with them moving forwards to raise as much money as possible!

I got asked by one of the lads in the team (Ben) to get involved. It’s a great bunch of lads to play with but more importantly a really important cause.
Andrew Anderson

It is a great bunch of lads. It is also a fantastic charity to raise money for.

Great bunch of lads and the fact it’s all done in memory of one of their mates. The money raised for charity’s by people that most likely wouldn’t still be playing football is also a added bonus. Football being played for all the right reasons win, lose or draw.
James Ray
Defender
I've had the pleasure of playing football with most of these lads for many years in various teams. I've made some great friends and some fantastic memories. I love turning out for Hughsie when I can and being a part the group. There is a great mix of younger and older lads and yet everyone gets along like they're best mates. I've always loved football but I haven't always loved playing football, so the most important thing for me was to be able to enjoy it again, something I hadn't been able to do for a while, I got that back when this team was created. The fact that we are also able to do all this in the memory of a really great guy and raise money for a vital cause makes it all the more special.
Matt Bond
Defender, Midfield
Having played alongside Adam since the age of 11, it is a huge privilege to be part of a team dedicated to his great name.
It's an honour each time I pull on the Hughsie FC shirt to ensure his memory lives on in such a positive way whilst also raising awareness of SADS UK. Sharing the dressing room with this footballing family is always something I look forward to doing.
Andrew Haigh

Being part of Hughsie is an honour! Adam was a primary school friend a team mate and captain. My cousin Richard was taken in the same circumstances so every time I pull on a Hughsie shirt it’s for them.

I play with the most Amazing Dedicated And Magnificent Hughsie Football team because I’m able too. It just seemed the right team to play for. I love every single minute wearing the shirt, spending time with this great bunch of lads. Hughsie FC x
Olly Burford
Forward, Midfield
I’ve been in every stage of Hughsie FC and I’m proud to say that. Phil has done an amazing job of keeping this going and now raising so much money for good causes. I’ve seen first hand the response from our efforts and makes me proud to have been involved. Lucky enough to captain the team and happy that we have such a great list of players that still turn out for us after all these years! Commitment, sportsmanship and loyalty never an issue with us, ability sometimes but we have fun doing it!!!
Hopefully I can be involved for a bit longer!
