Hughsie Charity Fundraising

Since 2009 a group of friends started fundraising for SADS in memory of their football captain and mate Adam Hughes who was taken away from from this condition. This group formed Hughsie FC and it has now grown into a community of people who continue to support the charity and raise money for other good causes and groups. Hughsie FC has now raised over £37,500 for charities and good causes.

SADS UK Helps Save Lives, informing the public and health professionals of symptoms of Heart Conditions that can cause a Sudden Arrhythmic Death (SADS) if not detected and treated. The charity donates cardiac equipment and defibrillators in the community and supports research into SADS.

Adam was an inspiration to all who knew him and through this charity support his memory will live on.

2023 - London marathon

We have raised over £1200 for SADs UK to help them with life changing research - thank you to everyone who has donated, it means so much to me and to the charity.

Thank you to my lovely husband James - Hughsie FC OG and Adams buddy, my lovely girls who have been very tolerant throughout the whole training block and most of all this weekend.

Special thanks to the Hughes family - Gail and Oliver, Oliver has been like my 4th emergency service with all of my running queries.

To Hughsie FC and all their support and to Phil Skayman as well - when he phoned me to offer the place, I honestly thought he was phoning to tell me it was my turn to wash the boys football kit! Hughsie FC is built on solid old school friendships, laughs and love and I feel very proud on honoured to part of this very special family.

Running London Marathon was an opportunity of a life time and one that I will treasure forever and to be able to run for a charity that means so much to the Holland Family was a great honour.

Time for a little rest and then get back to running. Thank you once again, love Sammy 💙❤ xxx

2022 - EVEREST

Phil Skayman (Gaffer), Jamie Hallam and Adam Cropper, trekked for 3 weeks in the Himalayas and reached the base of Mount Everest standing at nearly 6000 meters.

The lads will faced extreme conditions, trekking of up to 15 miles per day with backpacks and had to deal many challenges including altitude sickness.

The trip itself was self funded and all donations to support them went to the SADS UK charity not the trip itself. They did it to support the charity and continue to raise vital awareness in what SADS UK do including making it law to have automated external defibrillators (AEDs) in ALL public spaces.

2021 - 3 peaks challenge

September 2021, saw squad member Danny Taylor and friend Stephen Jackson take on the National 3 Peaks Challenge. Not only did they complete their challenge in under 24hrs, they did so unsupported!

Danny said "So the legs (and brain) are in absolute pieces and will be for a while. Having completed the 3 Peaks Challenge unsupported in under 24hrs is easily up there as one of the hardest but most enjoyable challenges I have had a bash at but, as I told my wingman for it, Stephen Jackson, it is one of those special experiences that will stay with me for life... so I'd definitely recommend it for those half tempted to have a go."

2018 - LONDON MARATHON

In October 2018 Phil Skayman was asked to run the 2019 London Marathon in support to SADS UK and in memory of Adam. For those of you that know Phil, you will have realised that by his own admission he is not a finely honed athlete and not built for running. His determination saw him complete the marathon in 4hrs 29mins and raising £3000 for SADS UK.

"This is not about any personal achievement for me it is about supporting SADS UK and preventing more tragic sudden deaths."

Sarah Short
Ride London

Sarah Short recently completed the 100 mile RideLondon from London to Essex.

Sarah who was representing Hughsie FC to support SADS UK has done an incredible job of smashing her £1000 target with £1475 total for SADS.

Sarah and her business Twells have done so much to support our club and this is just another fantastic effort

Matt Hardwick
Charity football game 2023

Being a Lincoln City fan as well as a player for Hughsie FC it was a great opportunity to support the SADS charity in raising more money and exposure for such a great charity.

The game will be at the great LNER Stadium with full access to all facilities, playing alongside family, friends and colleagues it’ll be a great even to promote the hard work SADS do.

Some more great work from Matt Hardwicke allowed us to be involved again in a great game at the LNER stadium.

An incredible amount was raised through sponsorship and dfonations.
